Professor KC Yadav (1936-2021)

Professor K. C. Yadav (Kripal Chandra Yadav) was a historian of modern Indian history. He worked extensively on the history of north India. Prof Yadav joined Kurukshetra University in 1965 and later served as a Professor & Head of the Department of History, Dean of Social Sciences, Dean of Academic Affairs, and Chief Advisor to Ambedkar Centre of the University. Prof Yadav was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland (FRAS) in 1974. In 1980-81, he served as a Visiting Professor at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Japan. 

Hailing from Haryana, Prof K.C. Yadav had a particular interest in the region. He was the founder and editor of the Journal of Haryana Studies. He established the institution ‘Haryana Academy of History and Culture’ in July 2010 and served as its founding Director till November 2014. Prof Yadav was also part of the centenary project India and the Great War 1914-18 of United Service Institution of India.  

Professor KC Yadav Chair

In the memory of eminent historian Professor KC Yadav, the Centre for Alternative Studies in Social Sciences (CASSS) has set up a regular Chair to offer fellowship to distinguished scholars working in Modern South Asian History. The Centre will host the Chair for a period of 6 months. In this period, the scholar will be expected to carry original research and deliver at least one lecture in his area of research in the name of Professor K.C. Yadav Chair. The Centre will provide an honorarium, a descent accommodation in Delhi, and some assistance in travel expenses for consulting libraries and archives.
